The placing of the stones can be followed by a massage which can be deeper and more intense as heat penetrates the body and relaxes the muscles. Hot Stone therapy can help in the treatment of for following problems; muscular aches, pains, and strains, rheumatic and arthritic conditions, Fibromyalgia, back pain, and insomnia. It also helps to improve circulation and can help reduce stress, anxiety, tension and depression. In certain cases cold stones can also be used to help muscular injury and inflammation. Warm stones expand the blood vessels, helping to move blood faster round the body, sedating the nervous system. The application of cold stones stimulates the nervous system by causing the blood vessels to contract and increasing the lymph flow of waste materials round the body.

Indian Head Massage also has its influences from the style of massage commonly practised by Indian women on family and friends as part of every day life and passed down through families from mother and grand mother to daughter. It is part of the system of medicine known as Ayurveda (a Sanskrit word meaning “Science of Life”). Ayurveda is a complete health system which originated in India, incorporating diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, herbal remedies and massage.
It was modified and introduced to the western world in 1981 by Mr Narendra Mehta where he launched it at the Mind, Body and Spirit Exhibition at Olympia London. Mr Mehta researched, documented and trained in the many types of head massage available in India and introduced what we now know as Indian Head Massage.

The treatment is carried out with the client sitting upright on a low backed chair. The massage can be performed either through the clothes or with essential oils directly on the skin. The areas on the body covered by the massage will be the upper back, shoulders, arms and then continuing onto the neck, scalp and face. At the end of the massage the Chakras are balanced (Chakras are the energy centres of the body).

The process of Hopi ear candling involves a specially designed hollow candle being inserted just inside the ear canal. The candle is then lit and the suction that is formed draws the impurities from within the ear. The rising air gives the ear drum a gentle massage and also helps to regulate ear pressure. A small amount of ear wax is usually removed during the treatment. Once both ears have been treated a pressure point facial massage will be performed as you listen to soothing background music.

Hopi Ear Candling has many positive benefits and can help with a variety of conditions of the ear.

These Include

  • Sinusitis
  • Tinnitus
  • Glue Ear
  • Hay fever and rhinitis
  • Excessive ear wax
  • General hearing loss
  • Colds
  • Tension headaches
  • Travel sickness
